INSPIRATION THE BEDROCK OF INVENTION
In the nineteenth century, Matthew Fontaine Maury, who is called the ‘Father of Modern Oceanography and Naval Meteorology’ said, ‘If God said there are paths in the sea, I am going to find them.’ Today we’re indebted to his discovery of the warm and cold ocean currents. He wrote a book on oceanography which remains a basic text on the subject and is still in use in universities today.
Another great scientist who ever lived was Aristotle who suggested in his book On the Heavens that the earth might be a sphere. After two thousand years, at a time when science believed the earth was flat, Christopher Columbus was inspired to sail around the world. He wrote: ‘It was the Lord who put it into my mind…I could feel His hand upon me…There is no question the inspiration came from the Holy Spirit because He comforted me with rays of marvellous illumination from the Holy Scriptures’ (extract from Christopher Columbus diary, in reference to his discovery of the New World).
Inspiration can make you standout like a shining star on the hill top. Inspiration presents you in a unique way to people around you as a result of your thinking, reasoning, carriage, presentation and comportment which is different from that of others. Inspiration determines your “package and delivery” in all you do.
What inspire you will drive you. Are you keen about being a solution to people around you? Are you always bent on solving problems affecting mankind?
Your inspiration will lead to new discoveries which will in turn drive your success (ess) through your inventions. Your success will now be the story of how you made it and what people think, feel, touch and read about you.
Be inspired! Think of being a solution to imminent problem in our society and you will see yourself succeeding and right there on the hill top.
